Chinese students in training program

In 2006, TBS established the Scholarship and Training Program with the Communication University of China, which boasts many successful alumni who work in China’s media industry.

Over the past 13 years, 161 students have received scholarships through the program and 76 have been invited to receive training in Japan. Fourteen TBS employees have visited Beijing to teach seminars at the university.

The program’s centerpiece is the training at TBS. During their 12-day stay in Japan, the Chinese students are given a tour of the program production process and attend seminars by TBS employees. They also travel to Kyoto and Nara, where they visit Toshodaiji, a historic temple founded by a Chinese monk in 759 and the very root of Japan-China exchange. At the end of their training, the students make a short mock program from footage filmed during their stay.

Graduates of this program are already actively involved in Chinese society, with many working at television and radio stations, news services, IT companies, and government organizations. Some have started their own businesses. TBS hopes giving these young minds an in-depth look at the true face of Japan through this program will help promote friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and China.

20th DigiCon6 Asia awards ceremony

In 2000, TBS launched a short film contest to spotlight young creators of digital content in Japan. This annual event has since expanded to include participants from other Asian countries and evolved into DigiCon6 ASIA. In 2019, Uzbekistan will take part for the first time, bringing the number of participating nations and territories to 14, including Japan.

TBS holds screenings and anime workshops across Asia and is expanding mutual understanding among attendees through visual media. These international activities harness our expertise as a media company to play a useful role in society and share the dreams of Asia’s young creators with a wider audience.
